Children’s memories of the holidays are shaped by the environment we create for them. With planning and a focus on your children’s emotional needs, you can create a joyful and safe environment that helps your children thrive.

Over the next 10 days we will be sharing top tips from Parenting Coach Bernadette Najjar of Thrive Together Parenting for parents who are separating or separated.

Don’t Use Your Children as Weapons

Using your children to hurt or manipulate the other parent can be devastating for their emotional well-being. Remember, that your children love both of you, the other parent is a crucial part of your child’s life, just as you are. Speaking negatively about the other parent in front of them creates emotional chaos and trauma. Your children feel loyal to both of you, don’t make them choose.

Your children didn’t choose this situation, but they will remember how you handled it.
